1. rare french fries. A politically-induced patriotic US replacement for french fries, instigated by the US government during a brief dispute with France, but not widely accepted.

Usage notes
Use of this term was limited to the cafeteria in the Capitol building, from March 2003 to August 2006 (with perhaps some comedians also exploiting it for a month or two.)
